Six Branches Family Acupuncture offers a holistic, trauma-informed, and body-affi rming approach to healthcare, with a particular focus on fertility, pregnancy and hormonal imbalances from menarche to menopause. While we treat a range of conditions, our mission is to offer safe, effective support for chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, and hormonal imbalances showing up as irregular, painful or heavy periods, infertility, perimenopausal symptoms and common conditions of pregnancy and postpartum.
We are located within Rosemont Wellness Center in Portland, Maine, alongside other independent health practices. We use an EHR system for documentation that is shared between providers, and have a welcoming administrative team who greet patients, take payments, schedule patients, compile herbal formulas and handle insurance billing. We are in-network with most major insurance carriers and about ⅔ of our patients use insurance benefi ts. We have a supportive team atmosphere and value the wellness of our team. We see 2 patients an hour but have spaces, breaks, and time for charting worked into our shifts to create a sustainable pace. Acupuncturists meet regularly (usually weekly) as a team to discuss diffi cult cases, current best practices, and professional development topics. Job Summary:
This position is for an acupuncturist who is excited about treating hormonal health, fertility and common conditions of pregnancy, as well as common pain conditions. This full time position is for 39 hours per week, including 2-3 weekday evenings, but candidates able to work 30-32 hours/week would be considered.
Ideal candidates will be able to:
● Bring both a clinical mindset and a heart-centered approach to patient care to diagnose, assess, and treat effectively.
● Provide hands-on modalities such as cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, and other modalities for which they have training.
● Adopt Six Branches’ patient onboarding process and palpatory approach to care.
● Effectively communicate with patients about acupuncture concepts in a modern context.
● Maintain patient records to the standard required by insurance companies.
● Customize herbal formulas, with training in the Chinese Herbal pharmacopeia, and has interest in using herbal medicine to treat hormonal health and fertility.
● Be punctual and maintain personal grooming to match our warm, professional, business-casual atmosphere.
● Work up to seeing 2 patients an hour.
● Maintain a professional attitude and contribute to a supportive team culture.
● Communicate positively with patients, co-workers, and members of the Rosemont Wellness Center community.

Duties/Responsibilities:
● Follow standard quality, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures and adheres to local, state and federal laws, regulations and statutes ● Effectively communicate treatment plans and goals to patients.
● Treat patients using tools such as needles, cups, gua sha tools, moxibustion, ear seeds, electrical stimulation and nutritional supplements.
● Take appropriate precautions related to treatments such as intradermal needles, moxibustion, electricity, gua sha, cupping and bleeding.
● Analyze physical fi ndings and medical histories to make diagnoses according to East Asian medicine traditions.
● Maintain detailed and complete records of healthcare plans and prognoses using an EHR system.
● Complete and sign charts within 48 hours of patient appointment.
● Formulate herbal preparations based on their properties to treat conditions.
● Educate patients on topics such as meditation, ergonomics, stretching, exercise, nutrition, the healing process, breathing, and relaxation techniques.
● Create and/or maintain a CAQH profi le.
● Communicate with other team members via Slack.
● Respond to patient emails in a timely manner.
● Perform basic administrative tasks as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
● Excellent listening and critical thinking skills with a service orientation.

● Ability to monitor ongoing activities in consideration of changing patient conditions.

● Comfortable seeing two patients per hour
● Ability to work 2 evenings per week
● Ability to maintain comprehensive chart notes, completed in a timely manner
● Positive attitude and excitement about working as a part of a team in a busy wellness center
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
● Comfortable explaining acupuncture to the general public
● Comfortable using gender-inclusive language and appropriate pronouns
● Experience using herbal formulas and supplements
Education and Experience:
● Must be a licensed acupuncturist, or meet the requirements for licensure, in the State of Maine
● Training with TCM herbal medicine preferred
● Training in a hands-on modality preferred (massage, shiatsu, cranial sacral)
Physical Requirements:
● Prolonged periods of standing.
● Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation:
● Employee (W2) position
● Salary (full-time): $60,000-65,000 base salary in the fi rst year, with additional per-patient bonuses
